Georgia Mountain Tactical Shooting Club
Toccoa, Georgia
Tactical Shooting emulates real life defensive pistol shooting more closely than IPSC or IDPA.These are fun matches that are perfectly suited to the beginning shooter or novice.  No drawing, running, prone positions or strange shooting positions are required.  You may use any serviceable handgun in caliber 9MM or above, with a barrel length of 6 inches or less.   Any modification that substantially alters the weapon will require you to shoot in the "Competitor Class".  The Match Coordinator will make the determination of class and his decision is final.
You will shoot four or more courses of fire, each course will require 16 rounds maximum, and most will require reloading.  Target distances will vary from 5 to 15 yards but will average about 10 yards.
Scoring: Comstock (Points divided by time = hit factor).

The April 21st match had 35 shooters participate. This was the 6 station match that included lunch.  Jerry Smith, Jim Hudak, Charles Ferree, Russell Shirley, Kendal Taylor and Steve Walsh all set this one up,
The next match is Saturday, May 19th, at 9 AM, with registration starting at 8:30 AM.  We are now on our summer schedule.
The Georgia Mountain Shooting Association has formed the Georgia Mountain Tactical Shooting Club as an associate organization.  The GMTSC will use the GMSA facilities for match events, but will be open to the Public for membership and no dues are required.

The match records and classifications have been completely cleaned up.  Only 12 matches are now carried forward.  If you haven't shot at least 3 matches in the last year, you will not be classified.  Hope to do this once a quarter in the future.  We have 62 shooters that have completed 3 or more rounds over the last 12 months that can be classified for the purpose of determining winners by class.   (We currently carry 173 shooters on the list.)   Your classification score is still the average of your scores for the last 3 shoots you attended.  You can view the list of classified shooters here.

CLAY SHOOTING COMES TO GMSA
The Georgia Mountain Shooting Association held its first shoot of a new shooting venue, Skeet and Sporting Clay matches.  The first match was Saturday, October 30th.  We had a dozen shooters and everyone there had a GREAT time.  You no-shows missed a lot of fun.
We are still ironing out the kinks (one of the throwers malfunctioned halfway through the shoot) but they will only get better with time.  The throwers Matt got really zing those birds out (they are speced to throw 90 yards) and the scores indicated it.  Better practice your lead.
